In each workshop, you will have the opportunity to learn how to implement the USFWS survey protocol, observe and hear adults and juveniles, determine reproductive status (courtship, mating, nest building, egg laying, incubation, brooding), determine extents of territories, and learn how to predict and estimate approximate locations of nests based on behavioral observations, and locate, and monitor nests. You will have numerous opportunities to see, hear, and find the focal species at a variety of locations!
Your workshop hosts have decades of experience surveying for both of these species, assessing breeding activities, and have a great understanding of the species behaviors during the nesting season.
This workshop is expected to contribute greatly to your ability to apply for and acquire a recovery permit for the species!
